Emerson Sensi Touch ST75 Wi-Fi Smart thermostat is an award-winning smart thermostat with advanced features and intuitive menus for complete control of home comfort. It has a full color 4.3 inches responsive LCD touchscreen display, an easy-to-use app, and integrations with smart home platforms. Its easy-to-use interface lets you take full control of your comfort system with just one tap while you’re at home or away. Also, the Sensi Touch ST75 is one of the best smart thermostats among other Emerson thermostats. However, it performs well, but the main drawback is its design. It looks a bit outdated when placed next to closely priced Nest E and Ecobee3 Lite. It seems that Emerson has designed this new Sensi Touch ST75 targeting a group of people who are looking for traditional thermostats with little more panache.
The Sensi Touch ST75 is the upgraded version of Emerson Sensi ST55 wi-fi smart thermostat and has the same key features of circulating fan, adjustable backlighting, keypad lockout, and more. From a visual perspective, Sensi Touch ST75 is entirely different from the Sensi WiFi smart thermostat. It’s slightly smaller in size but has a sleek and modern design compared to its predecessor that offers more of a traditional outlook. Though it’s 4.3 inches touch-sensitive screen is not as sharp (272 x 480 pixels) as the most sensitive display found on other smart thermostats. However, its rectangular black body, bright display screen, and easy-to-read large temperature display numbers (blue background for cooling mode and red for heating mode) will certainly allure its target audience.
The installation of Sensi Touch ST75 is easy. The Sensi smartphone app will guide you through every step of the DIY installation process. It requires a C-wire (common wire) for all system types. Apart from needing a C-wire, the overall installation process is simple. Moreover, an ingenious feature also helped to make its installation process simpler, the terminals will illuminate where you need to connect the wires – even without any external power. So, the light will help you to see the wires and labels easily in a poorly lit area of your home. You will certainly love this feature. However, approximately 70% of users reported that it takes 30 minutes or less to complete the entire installation process. Once the installation is completed, the rest of the setup can be performed easily through the Sensi app.
It’s easy to schedule the temperature to your choice with the Sensei app. It’s 7 days flexible programmable temperature scheduling option will allow you to customize your temperature settings. At least if you want one cooling and heating or automatic schedule for the weekdays and a 2nd one for the weekend. Creating alternate schedules is a bit complicated, but you can set an unlimited number of temperature goals for each day. You can even design new plans that are different for each day of the week.
The Sensi Touch ST75 also features geofencing that uses your smartphone location and adjusts the temperature when you are at home or away. This feature automatically sets the thermostat to energy-saving “away” mode when your smartphone location exceeds three miles perimeter. Likewise, it resets your desired temperature when your smartphone position returns to that radius. According to Emerson, Sensi Touch can save up to 23% on your HVAC energy usage. In addition, the Sensi app provides smart alerts if it detects extreme temperature and humidity levels in your home. You will also receive a usage report that includes daily and monthly heating, cooling, and fan runtimes. You can even check your current or historical usage right in the app. Moreover, you can remotely control your HVAC system and adjust the temperature from anywhere (internet access required) through the Sensi app.
Another great feature of Sensi Touch is nightlight mode, and it changes the background screen color to red or blue to let you know whether it is running in heating or cooling mode. Blue for cooling mode and red for heating mode. The Sensi touch also can track humidity and temperature, which is especially helpful for advanced systems with humidifying (or dehumidifying) equipment. However, Sensi Touch ST75 will not work with some systems like electric baseboard heat.
Sensi Touch ST75 is compatible with most smart home platforms such as Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. So, you can control the temperature with a quick voice command. Moreover, it comes with a built-in automatic upgrade feature that will keep track of the enhancement of the software and its new features. Please note that Sensi Touch ST75 isn’t an inexpensive thermostat but cheaper than a Nest thermostat and easy to use. Overall, it will return you a good value for your money.

FAQ
There is a step by step easy DIY installation instructions on the Sensi™ App to install Sensi ST55 and Sensi touch ST75. You will find two options in the apps, “No, it needs to be installed,” or “Yes, it is on the wall.” If your thermostat is not yet installed and you want to install it yourself, choose the first option. It will guide you in each step of your DIY installation process. If your thermostat is already installed and you just need to connect it to WiFi, choose the second option. You can download the Sensi app on your smartphone or tablet to get the installation guidelines. For the non-wifi thermostats, an installation guide is provided that includes step-by-step instructions for easily installing the device.
If you notice that your thermostat is not working properly or shows erratic activities, you may need to reset your thermostat. To reset, press both the up and down arrows and the time button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the display is blank. This procedure removes all the previous setting changes and put it back to the default ones. Remember, the system switch must be in heat or cool.
For resetting the Sensi™ Emerson thermostats, there is a different way. Remove the faceplate from the wall by pulling on both sides of the thermostat. Then remove the two batteries. When the display screen becomes blank, put the batteries again and push the faceplate back onto the wall. After you listen to the faceplate snap in place, the thermostat will be reset after a minute.
If your thermostat still not working properly after resetting, just contact your nearby heating/cooling service professionals or place of purchase.
To unlock the Emerson digital thermostat, you need to press the MENU key first on the thermostat. Then select the thermostat lock option using the navigation keys from the settings menu. Then press the Unlock option located in the lower right side of the display, and you will be asked to enter the three-digit secret password that you had set earlier. Finally, enter the password and press the Unlock option again, and your Emerson thermostat will be unlocked.
However, you need the Sensi™ app to unlock multiple thermostats individually on the Emerson Sensi™ smart thermostats. Open the Sensi™ app and choose the thermostat which you want to lock from the dashboard screen. Then navigate to the setting and disable the keypad lockout by using the “On/Off” Lock Thermostat Display switch.
Sensi™ Smart thermostats work with a considerable range of heating and cooling systems without the c-wire. But, c-wire is required for heat-only, cool-only, and heat pump systems and Apple HomeKit. In contrast, Sensi™ Touch Smart (wifi) thermostat always needs a c-wire to install.
The Emerson programmable thermostat lets you set pre-programmed settings for comfort and energy saving. The temperature of your home’s hot and cooling system will change according to the pre-programmed settings for various times of the day. On the other hand, Emerson’s non-programmable thermostat will stay at the same temperature 24 hours a day that has been set. If any adjustments are needed in the temperature, it must be made manually every time.
You have to remove the faceplate from the sub-base to replace the battery. Just use your two hands to pull the faceplate straight towards you. Once the faceplate is detached from the sub-base, remove the old batteries from the faceplate and wait until the front display goes blank. Inset new batteries and place the faceplate back into the sub-base. You will hear a snap when the faceplate attached to the sub-base securely. Wait 1-5 minutes; the thermostat will automatically reconnect to WiFi.
